Web Dissector is our analytics tool for online user interactions with pages on customer websites. By monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators such as clicks, page views, sessions, conversion rates and sales – and doing so at every pixel on a web page – Web Dissector precisely measures the effectiveness of online promotional activities and detects click fraud. Web Dissector can easily process over 30 million user page views per day on a customer’s website, and customers typically deploy Web Dissector to measure performance on several customer websites. This pioneering product, initially released in 2009, is built entirely on OLAP structures. The capabilities of Web Dissector include:
• Online operational data analysis. Web Dissector provides a comprehensive set of features for analyzing online operational data, including basic operational statistics such as number of page views, unique visitors, sessions, bounce rates and time spent on site, and derivative statistics such as user loyalty, visit frequency and monetization metrics. • Pixel-level interactive “heat maps.” Web Dissector uses Gridsum’s patented webpage heat map technology to collect information associated with all mouse activity at every pixel on a customer web page and present the results in a highly interactive visualization – in which customers select any region on the web page and drill down for all operational data associated with it. Customers assess advertisement results across media outlets, connect off-line conversion, analyze contribution from each channel to the ultimate conversion process and optimize online businesses. Dissector to evaluate the performance of their advertising campaigns across media outlets, connect off-line conversion, analyze historical channel contributions to the ultimate conversion or sale, and allocate their advertising resources efficiently based on the results. The capabilities of Contribution Dissector include:
• Identify conversion paths. Contribution Dissector aggregates user behavior data and performs multi-dimension analysis of the combinations of factors that have led to conversion or sale over an extended period of time. Since there is too much information on the internet and only some of it is useful for predicting stock price movements, we manage our sources to minimize contamination of irrelevant information. We also adopt our Chinese natural language processing technologies with respect to word segmentation, sentiment analysis, and entity name recognition, so that we derive metrics and correlations and produce high quality data.

CNTV: Optimizing Viewer Experience with Streaming Dissector CNTV, a national internet TV broadcasting entity, used Streaming Dissector to monitor video player performance in real-time. Video performance was measured in terms of video availability, initial loading time, number and duration of pauses, and other performance indicators at the user end. Streaming Dissector successfully monitored the viewing experience for all end users in real time and provided operational optimization support for CNTV’s live online broadcasting of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final, with an audience of nearly 5 million viewers accessing the stream from CNTV’s website and mobile apps.
Volkswagen Shanghai: Managing Ad Placements for large network of Dealers with Ad Dissector Volkswagen Shanghai, a large automobile joint venture, used Ad Dissector to customize a system to track ad placements by its large network of regional dealers, and quantitatively assess the monetization value of those placements. Ad Dissector used media placement data, cost per impression and cost per click data, in combination with our experience with data about the auto industry generally, to calculate a standard cost per dealer for monthly ad placements. This allowed Volkswagen Shanghai to implement an optimized ad placement strategy for the regional dealers and improve management of the advertising budget across the network.
Homeinns Hotel Group – Tracing customers’ online paths to the hotel with Contribution Dissector Founded in 2002, Homeinns Hotel Group is the leading economy hotel chain in China in terms of market share, number of hotels and hotel rooms, and brand recognition. It has developed a network of hotels that is by far the largest in the industry. Haier Group Corp. – Understand Requirements of Internet Users with Web Dissector

Peking University Law School: Using Media Dissector to Identify Topics and Trends in News Reporting Peking University Law School, a leading law school in China, released a research report in 2015 titled “What We Talk About When We Talk About the Supreme People’s Court” in partnership with Gridsum utilizing Media Dissector. The objective of the report was to find out how the public get to know about the Supreme People’s Court of P.R.C., its regulations, policies and rulings, through the reporting of news media. By means of various text mining techniques, Media Dissector digested more than 30,000 mainstream news reports within 2014 related to the court, and reconstructed the spread chains of the important events. With our own algorithm, Media Dissector summarized ten hottest topics that people cared about in the report, and 80% of them were also found and emphasized in the court’s own annual working report.
Levi’s – Evaluation of Media’s Monetization Value with Contribution Dissector Levi’s, a well-known denim wear maker, used Contribution Dissector to evaluate the long-term value of different media for advertising. Levi’s used Contribution Dissector’s attribution model to calculate the conversion values among different media by combining two key factors – initial visit and time to conversion. Contribution Dissector significantly enhanced the accuracy of Levi’s assessment of different media for advertising.
Jingtian & Gongcheng Law Firm: Distilling Litigation Data with Law Dissector Jingtian & Gongcheng, a large full-service law firm in China, used Law Dissector to help it determine legal strategy in a large copyright infringement case. From a collection of over two million recent civil cases, Law Dissector screened for cases related to copyright infringement involving musical works. Using natural language processing technology, Law Dissector extracted data on variables such as damages requested, final court award, location where alleged infringement occurred, court hearing the litigation and other variables. Law Dissector illustrated the spectrum of court cases graphically, used visualization to identify the most important aspects of the final rulings, and provided the law firm with important information helping it to formulate its legal strategy and select a favorable jurisdiction.
The People’s Government of Hainan Province: Data Driven Responses to Public Concerns with e-Government Suite The People’s Government of Hainan Province used e-Government solutions to provide valuable and timely information on issues of public concern. By analyzing and classifying internet search keywords, the Hainan provincial government determined the different categories of typhoon-related information needed by the public before and after the landfall of a typhoon. Government agencies and responsible departments were automatically mapped based on their respective responsibilities to provide relevant information, so the Hainan government was able to establish an effective system for coordinated interdepartmental releases of information before and after typhoons.
